Manual & Dual-Clutch Specialists

Welcome to Motronix

A worn clutch changes how your car feels long before it leaves you stranded. We catch the early signs and keep engagement smooth and predictable on Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche models.

Common signs you’re due for a clutch check:

Revs rise but speed doesn’t (slip under load or on hills)
Engagement point creeps higher, pedal feels spongy or inconsistent
Chatter or shudder pulling away from a stop, especially when warm
Grinding during shifts or blocked 1st/Reverse

Clutch inspection and hydraulic testing at Motronix

Diagnostics That Focus on Feel, Heat & Load

We road-test to feel for slip and chatter, measure pedal behavior, and check the hydraulic circuit before we talk parts. Where needed, we evaluate the flywheel, look for oil contamination, and verify shift linkage or mechatronic commands on dual-clutch units. For a deeper look at how dual-clutch and conventional transmissions differ in design and service approach, see our transmission architecture guide.

  • Road test with slip test in higher gears to confirm load-dependent flare
  • Pedal free-play, engagement height, and master/slave cylinder travel
  • Hydraulic leak check, fluid condition, and pressure bleed verification
  • Flywheel hot-spots, pilot bearing and rear main seal inspection
  • Shifter cable/rod adjustment, release fork and pivot wear check
  • DCT/PDK: control unit scan, adaptation values, and clutch fill times

Common Clutch Repairs We Handle

  • Complete clutch kits: disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing
  • Dual-mass flywheel inspection and replacement when beyond spec
  • Hydraulics: master and slave cylinders, lines, seals, and pressure bleed
  • Shift linkage, cables, bushings, fork and pivot service
  • DCT/PDK service: fluid and filter where applicable, adaptations, leaks
  • Oil contamination fixes: rear main seal, trans input seal, cleanup

Note on EVs: fully electric models like Tesla use single-speed gearboxes and don’t have a traditional clutch. If you’re unsure what your car needs, we’ll point you in the right direction.

Brands We Service

Clear Plan. No Guesswork.

We combine hands-on experience with methodical testing, so you’re not paying for trial-and-error. If replacement makes sense, we’ll say so. If a hydraulic fix will restore feel, we’ll start there.

The goal is simple: a clutch that’s easy to modulate in traffic and solid when you ask for it.

Clutch Repair – Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my clutch is slipping?
On a warm engine in a higher gear, add throttle. If revs jump but speed lags, the clutch is slipping. Other signs include a burning smell, higher engagement point, and loss of pull on hills.
Do I need to replace the flywheel?
We measure runout and inspect for heat-spots and cracks. Some dual-mass flywheels can’t be resurfaced; if play or damage is beyond spec, replacement is the reliable choice.
What about the hydraulic fluid?
Many cars share brake fluid with the clutch circuit. Contaminated fluid can cause a low or spongy pedal. We can flush and pressure bleed to restore pedal feel.
How long does a clutch replacement take?
Most jobs are completed within a day once parts are in, though certain models require extra time. We’ll set expectations up front and keep you updated.
Do EVs have clutches?
Fully electric cars like Tesla do not use a traditional clutch. If you’re driving a hybrid or performance model with a dual-clutch, we can advise on service options.
